mountain range (up to 2391 metres). With easy
connections by air from the UK
to Lyon or Grenoble
(1/2 hours drive) airports it is ideal for low-cost breaks. 8 hour
drive from Calais
for the determined!
At 1350 metres, Chalet Heurte Bise is available all year round to rent. It is a
comfortable and welcoming house for up to 7 people and is ideally
suited to people who love the great outdoors. There are two double
bedrooms and a large dormitory-style room which can sleep 3 (or more!).
Dining room, small kitchen, comfortable lounge with small tv and dvd,
bathroom etc.
Outdoors in the garden there is a substantial picnic table
and table tennis. Garage space for one car is particularly useful in
the winter months.
In the
summer months, the area
offers walking, tennis, swimming ( outdoor
pool in the village, lake in the valley for kite-surfing, kayaking and
windsurfing), cycling, paragliding, horse-riding and much more. There
is also a weekly market in the village selling local
crafts and produce such as delicious cheeses, meats, preserves,
and fruit and veg.
In the
winter alpine and
cross-country skiing, sledging and snowboarding are five minutes drive
from the chalet, perfect for beginners and intermediates: Gresse has its own resort with 11 teleskis and 2 chair lifts giving access to 19 pistes of all standards, local ski-school and hire
shops and 40km of cross-country skiing. Snow cannons are situated on
the lower slopes. Ski passes are incredibly reasonable.
There is a good choice of
restaurants and snack bars serving typical mountain food.
The mountain backdrop and
fabulous lighting are perfect for any painter or photographer and
cyclists and walkers never need cover the same ground twice: you will
be spoilt for choice.
